Ryan Smith and wife Alyssa Smith, are very excited to open Winnipeg’s first ever bird rental store named Your Feathery Friends. The store is located on Corydon Avenue and its doors will be opening on July 17, 2016. The purpose is for every bird enthusiast out there to test how a certain bird breed fits into their lifestyle.
The store owners started their business of breeding and selling birds from their home in 2008. As the number of their customers grew more and more, they decided to open their own bird store. They wanted to do something a little more different and that is how they came up with the idea of renting.
The store will have almost every common and some exotic bird breeds available for renting. People who are not sure about what type of bird will be suitable for them will be able to try out the different kinds of birds to see which one is the best for them. “We believe in customer satisfaction. We are offering this service because we want people to experience being a bird owner temporarily before they actually buy a bird,” says Ryan Smith.
People of Winnipeg have been welcomed to come to the store after the grand opening and rent birds for a designated amount of time. The longer you keep the bird, the costlier it will be. The bigger birds will generally be the most expensive ones in comparison to the smaller types. “I understand that providing quality service is more important than the amount of money we make. That is why we are keeping the prices quite low to meet people’s needs,” says Alyssa Smith. The renting rate will also vary depending on the age of the bird. A baby Macaw will be cheaper to rent than a fully grown one.
The Residents of Winnipeg that have heard about Your Feathery Friends can’t wait for the opening of the store. When interviewed, a local resident named Susan Craig said, “I am an animal lover. I already have a dog, a cat and a couple of birds. I am still definitely going to be their favourite customer because of the number of times I am going to use their service. This is a great store for every bird lover and I have also told my friends and family about it.”
Your Feathery Friends is going to be one of a kind in Winnipeg, Canada. The bird rental service will be useful for people who haven’t had a bird before, and to people who already have birds but want to "try out" the many other kinds. It seems that Mr. and Mrs. Smith are off to a great start and their business will become very successful according to their focus being mainly over customer satisfaction.
